Artificial Intelligence (AI) encompasses methods that enable machines to perform tasks requiring human-like intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, and pattern recognition. Machine Learning (ML), a core branch of AI, focuses on algorithms that learn from data and improve their performance with experience. In Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (Lattice QCD), the fundamental theory of the strong interaction is solved numerically on a discretized space-time grid. Our research explores how AI and ML can advance Lattice QCD — accelerating simulations, enhancing data analysis, and revealing new insights into the structure of matter from first principles.
